Laser Link Survey and Inspection

Active Communication Company Limited (ACCL) carry out site surveys prior to a client ordering a Laser Link solution.

During this inspection our engineers check:

  • Distance between buildings
  • Line of sightRooftop Inspection
  • Direction of the Sun
  • Examination of roof for fixing points (various options)
  • Routes for fibre optic and copper cabling
  • Cable containment
  • Floor access
  • Access to Comms Room
  • Cabinet space
  • Distance between the laser head and Comms Room

These checks are then repeated in the linked building.

To maintain a secure connection it is vitally important to select the most suitable position for a laser head. One of the most important elements is to select a position where people cannot walk in front of the beam. Although no physical harm will come to a person, the network connection will be lost. Please note if a unit is energised and a person looks directly into the beam it can result in retina damage. The most common people interfering with a signal are window cleaners and roof maintenance operatives. Our engineers are very experienced in head location positioning, in a short space of time they can work out the optimum location.

Following the completion of a site survey, a detailed report is produced, this will provide the interested party with all the information they need to proceed with an order.

To make an enquiry on a Laser Link survey please call our Helpdesk on 0333 900 0101. Alternatively you can make use of our quick enquiry form.
